The KDF Chalet Opens 1 December 2026

The KDF Chalet is complete and accepting bookings from 1 December 2026. After more than a year of planning and construction, we have a unit we're genuinely proud of, built to sit lightly in the landscape while giving guests everything they need for a comfortable, private, self-catering stay.

What the Chalet includes

The Chalet has two en-suite bedrooms plus a sleeper couch, comfortably sleeping up to 6 guests. It is a fully self-contained unit with a fully equipped kitchen (gas hob, oven, refrigerator, all utensils), two private en-suite bathrooms with showers, a river-view deck, a fan for air circulation, and private parking. Nothing is shared, it's the most private accommodation on the property.

The deck faces the river at a slightly elevated angle that gives unobstructed views upstream and downstream. A braai area will be added to the deck in due course. In the meantime, braai facilities are available at the communal area a short walk away.

Who it's for

The Chalet suits families, groups of friends, and couples who want a private, self-contained stay on the river. It is well suited to guests who want the full Vaal River experience without sleeping under canvas, and to anyone who needs space, privacy, and comfort alongside world-class fishing and birding.

All activities, fishing, birding, and stargazing are available to Chalet guests, along with access to the communal fishing bank.
